Under Neon Movie Review: 'Videodrome' (1983)

Movie: Videodrome
Year: 1983
Our Rating: 6/10 Stars ******

Wow! Kind of a crazy movie, but really not far from the truth, and I wouldn't be surprised if the various spy agencies haven't tried/even achieved programming people to be killers/drones like all those conspiracy-theorists believe...maybe even unintentionally. The special effects in this movie are dated, but still worth watching once, though they may creep some out, as the whole premise of the movie is a bit strange and twisted. James Woods was so young in this that you might not recognize him, but that was the early 80s. This one is probably considered a b-movie sci-fi horror classic by now, so if you are into that then check it out.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'Fright Night Part 2' (1988)

Movie: Fright Night Part 2
Year:1988
Rating: 6/10 Stars *****
Part 2 in my opinion is not nearly as good as part one was, but that is often how sequels tend to go. The story continues, a few years have past and Charlie is in college and finally over his vampire paranoia when Jerry Dandrige's sister (also a powerful vampire) comes to town seeking revenge for the murder of her brother. Again, the first was better, but this one is still a must see if you liked the first as they never made any more after this.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'Rawhead Rex' (1987)

Movie: Rawhead Rex
Year: 1987
Rating: 6/10 Stars******

This movie is so dated already, and quite the usual horror/monster massacre flick. An small Irish town finds itself in a bloodbath when a farmer unknowingly frees an ancient monster demon from his tomb. My main complaint with this film is that they really didn't try to fill in the plot at all, just started the rampage...and the end isn't really explained very well either, might leave you confused a bit.  However, if you like monster flicks, you will like Rawhead Rex, and it was one of Clive Barker's first horror films. I found it to be very similar to other 70's-80s-era Horror movies like Prophecy, Pumpkinhead, and An American Werewolf in London.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'The Guard' (2011)

Movie: The Guard
Year: 2011

This was actually quite a funny and good action-comedy flick. A sarcastic rural Irish cop finds himself in the middle of an international drug smuggling operation when the FBI come through his small town. I always appreciate Don Cheadle's acting range, as he has the ability to add that extra level to any movie he is in. Check it out, its a good mix of action, drama, and comedy.
