#89 of VJ Samsonite's Top 100 80's Dance Hits Countdown!

Welcome back to VJ Samsonite's top 100 80's Dance Hits Countdown! Today we are presenting #89 of the top 100 countdown! And the song is...Lost In The Shadows by American rock vocalist and songwriter Lou Gramm. Lou Gramm is best known for being the lead singer and songwriter of the rock band Foreigner. Lou started his solo career (apart from Foreigner) in 1987, which was the same year that he recorded his single Lost In The Shadows for the Lost Boys movie soundtrack. Now, the Lost Boys is one of my favorite 80's movies of all time, and so it goes hand in hand that I would place some songs off the soundtrack onto this list, and if you pay close attention you might just find some more songs from the soundtrack appearing later on down the countdown. If you are interested in Lou Gramm's history at all I would recommend checking out his Wikipedia page, as it lists the various eras of his illustrious career. With not much else to say, heeeerrrsss Louuuu Graaammmm...

#95: of VJ Samsonite's Top 100 80's Dance Hits Countdown!

Welcome back to VJ Samsonite's top 100 80's Dance Hits Countdown! Today we are presenting #95 of the top 100 countdown! And the song is....Dirty Love, by Canadian singer-songwriter and producer Tim Feehan. Now many, if not most of you are going to be saying "who the fark is Tim Feehan?" Well, Tim graduated from the University of Alberta in 1984 where he was part of a college band called Footloose, that's right, the band's name was Footloose (not referring to the Kenny Loggins song here). Now, Footloose had a an unexpected hit on the Canadian charts called Leaving for Maui, which incidentally also became a big hit in Hawaii. Tim made some big connections after this (including Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and David Foster), then released his self-titled debut album, which earned 5 ARIA Awards. The first song (which is a killer song btw) was Where's the Fire, which was chosen as the theme song for the 80's cult-classic (starring Charlie Sheen & Sherilyn Fenn) The Wraith. Dirty Love, which I have chosen as #95 on the 80's Dance Hits Countdown, was a single released in 1989 by Tim, and was featured on the Timothy Dalton James Bond flick License to Kill. Further than that Tim continues to make songs for various TV series and you can check out his wikipedia page right here. I have indeed created a movie tribute with this song, and hope to share at some point in the future. So now you can say you know a little bit about Tim Feehan, but I invite you to check out his other stuff too...what it is!!! (ps, sorry no video, but the song is there anyways ;-o)

#100: of VJ Samsonite's Top 100 80's Dance Hits Countdown!

Welcome to VJ Samsonite's top 100 80's Dance Hits Countdown! Today is the first post, and so naturally I am starting the countdown at number 100. You may have noticed that I have reverted from doing the top 50 as I found that there were just too many 80's Dance Hits that I couldn't possibly ignore, so I expanded it to the full-on top 100. So, the first song you very well may have never heard of before, and for those of you who are familiar with it, you have already proven yourself to be well versed in true 80's mythology. At number 100 is...Burning in the Third Degree, by electro-rock 80's group Tahnee Cain and the Tryanglz. This song comes off of the original Terminator Soundtrack and is featured in the Tech-Noir nightclub scene. There isn't much info about the other band members but Tane McClure is the lead singer, an actress, as well as a film producer from Los Angeles, California. She has been compared to Pat Benatar in the past, and was part of a Latin-Jazz band in the 1970's before she joined up with the Tryanglz. According to wikipedia, there album reached #121 on the charts, and the band performed gigs up til the 1990's when it officially disbanded. This song is a true sci-fi-80's-synth classic, which has its own dark post-apocalyptic undertones, which truly makes a gripping authentic 80's tune that is more than dance-able. I would recommend that if you dig this tune you check out the Terminator soundtrack as there are at least two other singles by this band on it. I am proud to make Burning in the Third Degree my number "100"80's Dance Hit. Enjoy!
