Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'Ghoulies II' (1988)
Movie: Ghoulies II
Year: 1988
Rating: 5/10 Stars *****
Ghoulies II was actually better than Ghoulies in my opinion, although that isn't saying much. As far as horror movies go, its hardly a horror. The little nasties are back, and this time they are haunting a hell-themed carnival show. This sequel definitely had a bigger budget than the first, and the ghoulies are a bit of a bigger role, the main role in this one...and I just realised there was a 3 and 4 too! bloody oath... And check out the sick W.A.S.P. music video below, made for Ghoulies II!

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'THE VIPS' (1963)
Movie: The V.I.P.S.
Year: 1963
Rating: 7/10 Stars *******
This movie has such a stacked cast its a little mind boggling. As with most movies that have such a star-studded cast I can't say it was wonderful, but it is better than most I've seen. Burton, Taylor, Rutherford, Smith, Welles, and R. Taylor keep it interesting and moving forward despite the VIPs all being stuck in the same airport the whole movie. Check it out, its a classic.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'Desert Winds' (1994)
Movie: Desert Winds
Year: 1995
Rating: 7/10
I liked this movie, although it is mostly just dialogue between the two main characters across a wind-tunnel that spans across two states. Was surprised that Heather Graham was in this movie, but there she is. Worth watching once if you are in the mood for something low key and a little out there, but not too out there. Sorry, couldn't find a trailer for this one.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'Micmacs' (2010)
Movie: Micmacs (Micmacs à tire-larigot) (2009)
Year: 2010
Rating: 6.8/10 Stars ******'
Micmacs in French means something like 'shenanigans' or "mayhem,' which fits the movie rather well. I like the message of the movie about the unconsciousness of the defense/military industries, and would say this movie is worth watching once. It is a little 'Willy Wonka-ish' in a way, but it has some important messages and social commentary that should not be ignored, check it out.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'License to Drive' (1988)
Movie: License to Drive
Year: 1980
Rating: 7/10 Stars *******
Here is a quality classic 80s flick for sure, and probably the 2nd best of the "Coreys" films in my opinion, following the legendary teen vamp flick "Lost Boys." Netflix just got this a month ago, and I didn't realize that Heather Graham was the girl in the movie. Its about teenagers and the age of getting a driver's license and finding the freedom to be able to drive to and fro. Don't expect much, but some good 80s fluff.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'O Lucky Man!' (1973)
Movie: O Lucky Man!
Year: 1973
Rating: 9/10 Stars
This is one of the few 'musicals' I can handle watching for 3 hours as it isn't about the characters bursting out into song every few minutes but rather lightly supported with a talented 70's British rock band and vocalist Alan Price, and thus the Soundtrack is definitely worth checking out too. A bit of a wandering storyline the film is long but keeps you entertained and contains lots of social commentary, some about war, some about capitalism, some about the criminal justice system, and some about young ambition too. In the end I think its really about a man who starts out naive and ambitious as trained to be by society, who slowly goes through a process of conscious awakening, and by the end of the film he has to find peace with the world instead of fighting it. Check it out, its worth it.
