Today's song is...Ain't Hungry by Australian pop-roots-blues-jazz singer-guitarist-songwriter Lanie Lane. Lanie Lane comes out of Sydney, Australia, and her musical style fits into many genres all at once. This song was produced by Jack White, and if you listen to the song you can definitely tell his influence is there, and the article on that is HERE. There is not a heap of biographical information on this artist, but I do highly recommend checking out her work, and if you are interested in finding out more about her you can go to her Unearthed page HERE, or her Facebook page HERE, or even her Myspace page HERE. VJ Samsonite's "Hot New Music" song of the day is....
...Odessa, by Canadian electronica artist Caribou. Caribou is a one-man-band by the name of Daniel Victor Snaith, originally from London, Ontario. His original stage-name was Manitoba up til 2004 when he was threatened with a lawsuit by Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba. Oh my, you have just got to love us Americans and our extremely litigious ways, I mean can't we all just get along (oops better not say that, I might get sued). Which reminds me, did you know that the dude who does boxing and pro-wrestling intros actually owns the copyright to his (ready to rumble) speech?? How far is too far folks?? Anyways, getting on with the song of the day...it comes off of Caribou's 20th album called Swim, released in April of 2010 (this very month!). The music video is a bit eerie at best, and the song is definitely different. Blah blah blah! (oh crapola, there's another lawsuit waiting to happen, I can already see the Lawyers flying lazy circles.)

VJ Samsonite's "Hot New Music" song of the day is....
...Bonkers (with Armand Van Helden), by London, U.K. rapper Dizzee Rascal. Dizzee has partnered up with the legendary American DJ/producer Armand Van Helden on this track (which incidentally reached #1 on the U.K. singles chart in 2009). I have posted a song by "the Diz" a few weeks back, but as I said then there will be more posted by him as he is an excellent new electro-rap artist. This song is one of the three #1 hits that comes off of his Tongue N' Cheek album (released in September of 2009), along with my earlier post of the song Dance Wiv Me. The 3rd hit will be posted here at a later date, so stay tuned or just go check out the album yourself!

VJ Samsonite's "Hot New Music" song of the day is....

... a song called Fader by Aussie rock band The Temper Trap. The Temper Trap hails at us out of Melbourne, Victoria (heaps of great new artists coming out of Melbs and Sydney lately), and delivers to us its own brand of "atmospheric sound" (as wikipedia suggests). This song comes off of their Conditions album, which was released in June of 2009. Lots of good new music came out in 2009 aye? Hope you didn't miss out on it! Not much else to say about them, so look them up if you want more info, woot!
