Another Classics Shuffle: 'Can't You Hear Me Knocking' by The Rolling Stones (1971)

And the Classic's Shuffle result for this week, straight out of 1971, and hardly an unknown song is Can't You Hear Me Knocking by legendary British rock band The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones formed in London, UK back in 1962 with an original lineup of Brian Jones (guitars, and harmonica), Ian Stewart (piano), Mick Jagger (vocals and harmonica) and Keith Richards (guitar), Bill Wyman (bass guitar), and Charlie Watts (drums). Yes, they are still touring to this day despite some of them being almost 70 years old which is pretty amazing and cool at the same time. Can't You Hear Me Knocking comes off of the band's 11th American and 9th British studio albums Sticky Fingers, which was released in April of 1971. This song has been featured in many films including Blow, Casino, Comedian, The Fighterand Without a Paddle to name a fewThis is one of my favorite Stones tracks so enjoy and stay tuned for more.

Feature Song of The Day = 'Curtain Falls' by Ou Est Le Swimming Pool (2010)

Today' s feature song is Curtain Falls by British synth-pop group Ou Est Le Swimming Pool. Ou Est Le Swimming Pool originate out of Camden, London UK and consisted of members Charles Haddon (ex-lead singer, is now deceased), Joe Hutchinson, and Caan Capan. This song appears on their debut album titled The Golden Year, which was officially released on October 11th, 2010. The release of that album was delayed from its original release date when the lead vocalist Charles Haddon tragically committed suicide on August 20th, 2010 following a performance in Belgium. One piece of Wikipedia trivia not noted on previous posts is that the group's name was inspired by a line from the French teacher Mrs Crabbe in the television series Hardwicke House. You can check out their MySpace page HERE

Feature Song of the Day = 'Back to Back' by Wolf Gang

Today's song is....Back to Back, by English indie-pop band Wolf Gang. Wolf Gang is primarily the project of 23 year old musician Max McElligot, is based out of London, UK, and tours live sets with former The Rakes drummer Lasse Petersen. Back to Back is one of the first few singles this band has produced. Rumor has it they are set to release their first full length LP titled Suego Faults in mid 2011, which has been written and recorded solely by McElligot, and produced by Dave Fridmann. I am definitely looking forward to the release of that album, and they are one of these groups that is seriously under-played but who have great talent and great songs. The band has been on tours with bands like Florence and the Machine, and Metric in the UK, as well as performing at festivals in Australia. Keep your eyes on this band, and for more band info, track previews, and even a free download of this song head to their myspace page HERE. Also I have posted 2 other songs on this vlog by Wolf Gang that are also worth checking out, so be sure to look those up too. Snap!

Song for December 4th, 2010: "Gilgamesh" by Gypsy and the Cat

Today's song is....Gilgamesh, by by Aussie electro-pop duo Gypsy and the Cat. Gypsy and the Cat formed back in 2008, and the duo consists of Melbourne DJ's Xavier Bacash and Lionel Towers who are currently based out of London, UK (London is where they are currently based, though they both are originally from Melbourne, Australia). I have posted a couple of their previous songs on this vlog, and now they have released their debut album titled Gilgamesh just last month (November of 2010 for those of you reading this after the fact)!! This band has a unique sound, and the more of their stuff I listen to, the more and more I am really enjoying it. It is a bit difficult to find their stuff if you aren't in Oz or the UK, and I must say here that it would be fully-sick if they would release their album in the Itunes USA store! If you like this song I would highly recommend you check out their new album for yourself, especially the singles Jona Vark, and Time to Wander. Jona Vark is still available as a free mp3 download at their Unearthed page HERE, and you can check out their other works at their myspace page HERE. Gilgamesh
