Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'House' (1986)

Movie: House
Year: 1986
Rating: 7/10 stars *******
I remember seeing parts of this movie when I was about 9 years old, was kind of freaky then, but totally chill now, and entertaining. Its one of the haunted house genre movies, very animatronic 80s style too. Some freaky monsters in this one, and reminds me of dreams I've had of old houses I've lived in. Check it out, there was a sequel too, so will probably do a review on it soon.

The Last Days Of House: 'Sunny' by Boogie Pimps (2004)

Now for another edition of The Last Days Of House, and today we have German-electronic/house group Boogie Pimps and their 2004 release hit track Sunny. Boogie Pimps is a collaboration between DJs Mark J Klak and Mirko Jacob which began in 2000 out of Erfurt, Germany. Sunny was a cover-version of the original 1966 song by American singer/songwriter Bobby Hebb, and the Boogie Pimps version would reach #10 on the UK charts, and #23 on the Australian charts. I was surprised to see that the original radio-edit of this song isn't available as a digital download on either ITunes or Amazon, but their hit house-cover of Somebody to Love is, so you can check that out, although it will probably appear in a future post here. Til next time, and lets hope for some more sun too!

The Last Days of House Weekly Track: 'Insomnia (Monster Mix)' by Faithless (1995)

So now this is happening...posts for Dance/House hits from new to old so get ready. To start it off is a classic 1995 track by British electronica/house/dance group Faithless called Insomnia (Monster Mix). Now I am sure there are heaps of remixes and versions, but the Monster Mix is the one I am preaching about today. Faithless originated out of London, England and consisting of members Maxi Jazz, Sister Bliss and Rollo, and according to their Wikipedia Page they have actually officially split up just this month of April 2011. The group has sold over 15 million records worldwide and this particular remix version comes off of their 1996 release album titled Reverence. So that is the first dance-house-trance track to be featured here, but many more to come, and hopefully even some new ones, and that's all she wrote..

Song of the Day for August 14th, 2010: "Barbara Streisand" by Duck Sauce

And the song is... Barbara Streisand, by American DJ-duo Duck Sauce. Duck Sauce is a duo consisting of DJ's Armand Van Helden and A-Trak, and is signed under the Fool's Gold record label. The duo has released an EP in September of 2009 called Greatest Hits, however, Barbara Streisand is their latest track released as a single just recently (not sure exactly when, sometime during 2010), and this track has received substantial airplay on UK radio stations. So, for you DJ's and house people, this is probably my first dance-post, so do enjoy yourself some Duck Sauce.
