Under Neon Movie Reviews: "Cyrus" (2010)
Movie: Cyrus
Year: 2010
Rating: 2/5 Stars **
I was expecting this to be more of comedy after seeing the cast and plot, but it turns out to be kind of a serious movie. Two adults (Tomei and Reilly) meet at a party and hook up, and then the challenge of having a young son (past teen years in this case) accept his mother's new partner comes up, and is actually fairly believable in the sense of what follows, and a little creepy too.

Under Neon Movie Reviews: 'Pete Smalls is Dead' (2010)
Movie: Pete Smalls is Dead
Sort of a strange and grungy flick about 3 friends, 1 of whom became a famous Hollywood film director and recently died bringing the other 2 together. This movie is a little hard to follow, and it really wasn't all that great, but if you like movies such as Big Lebowski, and other such grungy Americana flicks then you will dig this.

DJ Akhu's Daily Shuffle: 'Paradise Circus' by Massive Attack (2010)
Year: 2010
Okay, so after watching the first few episodes of BBC TV drama series Luther (starring the brilliant Idris Elba), I had to get the intro theme song. This is that song, so if you haven't checked out that intro or the show I recommend you do.

DJ Akhu's Movie Reviews: Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)
Director: Paul W.S. Anderson
Rating: 6.6/10 Stars ******'
I finally caught the whole thing on one of the movie channels tonight, and my what an attractive cast, which really is what makes the movie worth watching at all (Obviously Jovovich). Alice continues her quest through post-apocalyptic world trying to find a rumoured safe-haven, and on her journey she meets up with some companions as well as close encounters with zombies and super-zombies, and it that is your thing you will dig it, nuff said. I'm already looking forward to the latest one from this year!

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Monsters' (2010)
Movie: Monsters (2010)
Director: Gareth Edwards
Rating: 5/10 Stars *****
Arrrghh, I keep falling farther and farther behind on my movie reviews, will need to seriously catch up at some point. I Saw this on Netflix streaming. Its a sci-fi thriller about a photographer for a big media outlet who is assigned by an company executive to escort his daughter out of Mexico, which has been over-run by alien beings (basically giant floating octopi, which is so over-used by alien sci-fi movies) and back into the USA. This movie was hardly good, but entertaining if you can't decide what else to watch, and I believe their may be some undertones of social commentary going on regarding illegal immigration and the whole US-Mexico anti-immigration mumbo jumbo going on.

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Cave of Forgotten Dreams' (2010)
Movie: Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010)
Director: Werner Herzog
Rating: 8/10 Stars ********
Wow! 32,000 year old cave art, take that Bible-thumpers! This is a doco about a cave that was discovered in Southern France in 1994 by archeologists, and which was preserved due to a landslide, and contains cave paintings that date as the oldest evidence of human civilization yet known. Check this movie out, it will blow your mind, if you have one of your own.

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Bill Cunningham New York' (2010)
Director: Richard Press
Rating: 8/10 Stars ********An interesting doco about Bill Cunningham, a life-long and dedicated photographer who has documented street and runway fashion from the 1960's to present day in New York City and Paris. Quite entertaining and the best part is that is real, and about real people, so check it out, especially if you are into fashion at all.

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Another Year' (2010)
Movie: Another Year (2010)
Director: Mike Leigh
Rating: 4/5 Stars ****
Wow, this was quite a good movie, and also very in that the characters are believable. This film does a great job at demonstrating ordinary people, who are over the hill so to speak, and their everyday struggles with simply trying to get people to spend time together and relate to one another and how that seems becomes more...lets say 'complicated'... with age. There are for sure many many people, many more than most would think, over the age of 40 and 50 for whom a great marriage and family life just never really came together. These people end up single, living alone for many years, and feeling socially isolated even from their close friends, most of whom are in relationships and have to find special time to fit in their own busy and committed lives for these loners. I am only 30 now, and I can relate to some of these characters. It is hard to be single in a world of couples and families. And not to presume that most those couples and families are as happily together and financially together as the one this film focuses upon. Great movie to make you think about how we have structured our society and culture, and how many people end up on the sidelines, and how anyone, even the happy-off ones, can potentially end up that way when a loved one passes away unexpectedly. Check this one out.

A Brief Movie Review: 'Skyline' (2010)
Movie: Skyline (2010)
Directors: Colin Strause and Greg Strause
Rating: 1.8/5 Stars *'
Another alien-invasion movie, very reminiscent of Independence Day (1996) and War of The Worlds (any of them), in fact I would suggest not wasting your time watching this one and if you want to watch and alien invasion movie go with one of those classics instead. I mainly watched this because it was available on Netflix Streaming, but I would not watch it again.

Your Daily Song: 'Progress (ft. Mantra)' by Ishu (2010)
Today's song is... Progress (ft. Mantra) by Australian hip-hop artist Ishu. Ishu is a Melbourne-Australia-based producer, and his song Progress comes off of his recently released A World in Progress album
, which hit stores on November 9th, 2010. This is the first single released from the album, and it features progressive rap/hip-hop, which is quite nice for a change-up on the usual rap-themes. Not a whole lot of info on this artist out there on the web at the moment, but you can check out his MySpace page HERE, and the album is now available for purchase on ITunes and Amazon. Check it out!

Your Daily Feature: 'Run' by Elke (2010)
Today's daily feature track is called Run, and its by Australian indie-electro band Elke. Elke, which consists of members Zack, Joel, Dave, Jim, and Jesse have been making music together since 2007. They originate out of the Brisbane, Queensland region of Australia, and they in my opinion they are severely under-rated, and I find it shocking that they haven't been signed by a major label. This band also operates as the band Dolphins, which does mostly indie-surfie style rock, which is also incredible stuff that I recommend checking out! Run comes off of the groups latest EP release simply A and B. You can check out most if not all of that EP at their Soundcloud site HERE, and if you just want some more artist info and such then head over to their website HERE. Run by elkeband
