Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Efter brylluppet (After the Wedding)' (2006)

Movie: Efter brylluppet (After the Wedding) (2006)
Director:
Susanne Bier
Rating: 9.3/10 Stars *********'

Wow, I am always impressed by the quality of acting that comes out of Europe, and this movie is no exception. Mads Mikkelsen's character comes back to his home country in Denmark to try and raise funds for his struggling orphanage in India to find that his ex-girlfriend's billionaire husband is the one offering a handsome sum, but there is more to the story than that, including discovering he has a twenty-something daughter he never knew about and more. Check this one out if you get the chance, its quite good, but a little sad too.

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Who's Harry Crumb' (1989)

Movie: Who's Harry Crumb (1989)
Director: Paul Flaherty
Rating: 6.4/10 Stars ******'
I gave this one 6.4 stars mainly because of John Candy. Candy plays a clumsy private detective (much like a Pink Panther or Naked Gun sort) who is called up to investigate the kidnapping of a billionaire's daughter. Not Candy's best, but still worth watching at least once for a few good laughs and by the simple fact that it stars John Candy.

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Elvis and Annabelle' (2007)

Movie: Elvis and Annabelle (2007)
Director:Will Geiger
Rating: 5.2/10 Stars *****'
An unusual love story about a Southern beauty queen who dies and comes back to life on the mortician's table, when he kisses her dead body. A romance and drama ensues as the lives of everyone involved change dramatically. This one was different and keeps you interested, but not one I would watch again. Definitely more of a chick-flick/love story kind of movie, but also a bit quirky.

This week's song post goes to Australian indie-blues-soul-rock band The Rubens and their song Lay It Down. I only discovered this band recently and really dig their sound and energy, and if you are keen on artists such as the Black Keys, or Cold War Kids then you will definitely like The Rubens. Lay It Down is one of their first single releases and I am stoked to hear more of their work! Also, be sure to check out this song and a few others at The Rubens' Unearthed Page HEREcheers!

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Cave of Forgotten Dreams' (2010)

Movie: Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010)
Director: Werner Herzog
Rating: 8/10 Stars ********

Wow! 32,000 year old cave art, take that Bible-thumpers! This is a doco about a cave that was discovered in Southern France in 1994 by archeologists, and which was preserved due to a landslide, and contains cave paintings that date as the oldest evidence of human civilization yet known. Check this movie out, it will blow your mind, if you have one of your own.

Sneaks' Movie Reviews: 'Bill Cunningham New York' (2010)

Director: Richard Press
Rating: 8/10 Stars ********
An interesting doco about Bill Cunningham, a life-long and dedicated photographer who has documented street and runway fashion from the 1960's to present day in New York City and Paris. Quite entertaining and the best part is that is real, and about real people, so check it out, especially if you are into fashion at all.
