The song for today is....My Rescue, by Australian folk/psych/hard/house duo Canyons. Canyons consists of DJ/Producer duo Leo Holiday and Ryan Sea-mist who originated out of Perth, Australia but who are now based in Sydney, Australia. My Rescue is a 2010 single release (and it is available on itunes and amazon). I haven't managed to find a whole lot more information about the duo, but you can check out their myspace page HERE, and their

Song of the Day for August 22nd, 2010: "6's and 7's" by Smilin
And the song is....Smilin by Australian indie band 6's and 7's. The 6's and 7's are an Perth, WA indie-band, lead by singer/songwriter Josh Fontaine. Now there just plain out isn't that much info on this band, with the exception of their myspace page, so if you want more info you'll need to search for them. The video below is a live version of this song as that is all that was available on youtube.com, so if you want to hear the clear studio version of the song you can go to their myspace page and listen to it here.

The Song of the DAY!
And the song is...Noiseless, by another Aussie indie band called Stunning in Red. Stunning in Red, like yesterday's artist also originate out of Perth, in Western Australia. They say that Perth is technically the most geographically isolated city in the world, there's a great fact for your trivia night! The band consists of 4 members, and they have produced an EP called Delaway Field, that is meant to be released in the coming few months. Now, once again youtube does not have this song on their database so you will once again have to go to the band's myspace page here to listen to this song and see what you think. Enjoy Stunning in Red!
Song of the Day!
And the song is... That Girls For Me, by Aussie rock band The MDC. The MDC come out of Perth, in Western Australia and they have a fresh punk-rock high energy sound. Members include Chris Action (guitar), Ben ? (bass guitar) and Jack Daniels (vocals). Now I don't really have any other info on this band, but they are the song of the day. There is no youtube info, and I discovered them on Triple J's Unearthed site, so you will have to go to this link right here in order to read about the band and listen to the song, it has to be done this way I'm afraid. The cool thing about Triple J Unearthed is that they let you download the Mp3 versions of the songs they post for free, as the whole point is to give the artists they represent some following, so Shut Up and Dance!

VJ Samsonite's "Hot New Music" song of the day is....
....Propane Nightmares by Australia drum and bass/rock group Pendulum. Originally coming at us out of Perth, Australia (on da west coast!), Pendulum relocated to the UK in 2003 where they began to gain increased popularity. I love Propane Nightmares just because it is so unpredictable, which is part of this groups unique style. It starts out with latin sounding horns (sort of like a Cat Empire type of intro), then moves into a more main-streamish rock sound, only to change yet again when it busts out into a full-on drum and bass session. Pendulum does an excellent job of blending their drum and bass style with rock, electro-synth, and other more unpredictable musical elements not mentioned here. Pendulum have released 3 studio albums, with Propane Nightmares coming off of their 2008 In Silico album, which makes it 2 years old already (bloody oath!). They have also released an album this year (2010) called Immersion, which I myself have yet to listen to but mos def am looking forward to it. Chickity Check it!

VJ Samsonite's "Hot New Music" song of the day is....
....Jimmy Recard, by Aussie hip-hop artist Drapht. Yet again, this is not a new song in Australia, in fact it was released back in May of 2008 on the Brothers Grimm album. Why am I posting oldish stuff? Well, because I can, and because its my blog, so there. Moving on...Jimmy Recard is a great song that reminds me of the show Entourage for some reason. Whilst I never really liked Entourage that much I always thought that this Aussie hip-hop song sort of summed up the theme of the show well; that being about a group of friends trying to make the big-time in Hollywood, some of them achieving success and others not. At least that is what I summed up out of the one or two episodes I've seen, so maybe I am totally off, but the point is I don't give a flying-shart anyways. But seriously someone should make a fan-vid of Entourage using Jimmy Recard, because I probably won't do it ;-( ...Oh yes, getting back to Drapht, he hails at us out of Perth, Australia (a west-coast'a), and he has released three studio albums, so be sure to check them out if you like his work. What it is!
