Feature Song of the Day = 'Got No Charm' by The Words
Today's song is...Got No Charm, by Australian alternative-rock band The Words. The Words come out of Bunbury, in Western Australia, and consists of members Ben Macri (Lead Vocals, Guitars), Clint Macri (Guitars, Backing Vocals), Dylan Macri (Guitars), and Ryan Mcdonnell (Drums, Percussion). Got No Charm comes off of their 2008 debut EP titled Running In a Maze, which is available on ITunes and Amazon, but if you want a lower quality free and legal mp3 download of this song (or a couple others) you can head over to their Unearthed page HERE, or just check out their Myspace page HERE for more info. Now, I am not for certain but their musical style reminds me personally of a mix of Third Eye Blind and Counting Crows, but I am referring to just a few elements in a few of their songs as they clearly have their own energy and unique sound. Check it!

Song of the Day for September 30th, 2010: "Rest" by The Temper Trap
And the song of the day is....Rest by the Temper Trap. I heard this song being played on a diet coke commercial yesterday, kind of strange, but I guess that's how it goes in the music biz. The Temper Trap are an alternative-rock band from Melbourne Australia, yet another Melbourne based band that is up and coming in a big way. No doubt that this album, titled Conditions (released in June or 2009) was a great one, but I just find it interesting to see which bands make it big and end up getting press and which ones don't despite being just as good if not better. The album reached #175 on the Billboard Top 200 albums in 2009, and it peaked at #25 on the UK Albums Chart. Now generally I like to post songs and bands that aren't all that well known, but I have to give props to Melbourne bands as I lived there for 2 years and heard heaps of amazing music, and have managed to stay somewhat connected thanks to Triple J online radio. That said, enjoy the song and definitely take some time out to check out the whole album. Also, one quick note, the song doesn't actually start up til about 15 seconds into it, so if audio doesn't seem to working its because there is a pause at the beginning of this track.

Song of the Day!
And the song is... That Girls For Me, by Aussie rock band The MDC. The MDC come out of Perth, in Western Australia and they have a fresh punk-rock high energy sound. Members include Chris Action (guitar), Ben ? (bass guitar) and Jack Daniels (vocals). Now I don't really have any other info on this band, but they are the song of the day. There is no youtube info, and I discovered them on Triple J's Unearthed site, so you will have to go to this link right here in order to read about the band and listen to the song, it has to be done this way I'm afraid. The cool thing about Triple J Unearthed is that they let you download the Mp3 versions of the songs they post for free, as the whole point is to give the artists they represent some following, so Shut Up and Dance!

And the song of the day is.....
...The Memento, by 4 piece Aussie indie rock band Traps. Traps come out of Sydney in New South Wales, and consist of members Kieran Day (lead vocals & guitar), Ben Hassell (vocals & guitar), Matthew Edge (bass guitar) and Malcolm Tain (drums). They formed back in 2007, each member coming from a different band. And that is about all the info their is on them out there, so enjoy the song! Now you will realize that there is no video, and that is because the song is not up on youtube, or anywhere else, which leaves us with the myspace page, the last resort of course but better than nothing, so look at this link for the song. Cheers!

And the song of the day is....
...Through the Clover, by Aussie sister-band Stonefield (formerly known as Iotah). Stonefield don't have a lot of info on the web about their bio other than they are comprised of 4 sisters who won the Triple J Unearthed High competition in 2010, so fairly recently. They won that competition whilst still under the name of Iotah, but have since changed that name to Stonefield. Youtube only has a live video of them performing the song, but you can find a free mp3 downloadable version on Triple J's Unearthed site at this link. Enjoy!

The Song of the day is....
...Where the City Meets the Sea, by Australian alternative rock band The Getaway Plan. The Getaway Plan formed in 2004, and are from Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. The band members are singer/guitarist Matthew Wright, guitarist Clint Splattering, bass guitarist Dave Anderson and drummer Aaron Barnett. They have released one studio length album in 2008 titled Other Voices, Other Rooms. Where the City Meets the Sea comes off of that album as the 3rd track, which is already over 3 years old! Funny how that works with songs, you hear them and then you realize that "holy f$@ing Shi$# this song is already 5 years old!," or something like that, at least I now how that goes with me, and you know music is a bit like fashion, one year your style is in, the next its lame and out-dated, not that this song or band are like that by any means, but I just wanted to point out the ever changing tides of music. Enjoy!
