Feature Song of the Day = 'I Can Show You' by Tim and Jean (2010)

Today's Feature Song is I Can Show You, by Australian indie-electro-pop duo Tim and Jean. Tim and Jean are Tim Ayre and Jean Capotorto who come out of Perth, Western Australia. They started up a MySpace page and ended up entering Triple J's Unearthed High School competition for unsigned bands, in which they made it to the finals with their song Come Around. They were later then selected to by that radio station to play at the Parklife Festival. They have not yet released an official album or EP, but they have played internationally and in America when they were a supporting act for Moby. If you like what you hear on this post then go check out their MySpace page HERE for more songs and band info, or you can also check out their Unearthed page HERE which includes a free and legal 128kbps-mp3 download of their song Come Around (which is also available for purchase at HQ in the ITunes store. They do sound a bit like Passion Pit, especially the keyboard style they play in this song, so if you are a Passion Pit fan you will probably dig the musical styles of Tim and Jean. Check it!

Feature Song of the Day = 'Got No Charm' by The Words

Today's song is...Got No Charm, by Australian alternative-rock band The Words. The Words come out of Bunbury, in Western Australia, and consists of members Ben Macri (Lead Vocals, Guitars),  Clint Macri (Guitars, Backing Vocals), Dylan Macri (Guitars), and Ryan Mcdonnell (Drums, Percussion). Got No Charm comes off of their 2008 debut EP titled Running In a Maze, which is available on ITunes and Amazon, but if you want a lower quality free and legal mp3 download of this song (or a couple others) you can head over to their Unearthed page HERE, or just check out their Myspace page HERE for more info. Now, I am not for certain but their musical style reminds me personally of a mix of Third Eye Blind and Counting Crows, but I am referring to just a few elements in a few of their songs as they clearly have their own energy and unique sound. Check it!

Song for October 24th, 2010: "Skin of Your Teeth" by The Words

The song is...Skin of Your Teeth, by Australian indie-rock band The Words. Now, naturally this song isn't on youtube, as youtube appears to be going 'down the tubes' as of late in terms of the richness and diversity of content they once upon a time offered, and I can see the lawyers flying lazy circles, but who knows perhaps radio stations such as Triple J and sites like their triplejunearthed website, which features free mp3 downloads, info and previews of upcoming Australian artists, and if anyone knows of the British and American equivalents of this site I would be stoked! That said, go to their myspace page here or to the triplejunearthed page here for the free mp3 listen/download of this song amongst a few others by the same band. And don't forget to enjoy yo'self!

They also won the Campus Band Competition in 2009, and they have a highly anticipated LP set to come out in early 2011. For more info on the band check out their myspace page here. Also, this song is available as a free download at this link here. Enjoy!

The Song of the DAY!

And the song is...Noiseless, by another Aussie indie band called Stunning in Red. Stunning in Red, like yesterday's artist also originate out of Perth, in Western Australia. They say that Perth is technically the most geographically isolated city in the world, there's a great fact for your trivia night! The band consists of 4 members, and they have produced an EP called Delaway Field, that is meant to be released in the coming few months. Now, once again youtube does not have this song on their database so you will once again have to go to the band's myspace page here to listen to this song and see what you think. Enjoy Stunning in Red!

VJ Samsonite's "Hot New Music" song of the day is....

....Jimmy Recard, by Aussie hip-hop artist Drapht. Yet again, this is not a new song in Australia, in fact it was released back in May of 2008 on the Brothers Grimm album. Why am I posting oldish stuff? Well, because I can, and because its my blog, so there. Moving on...Jimmy Recard is a great song that reminds me of the show Entourage for some reason. Whilst I never really liked Entourage that much I always thought that this Aussie hip-hop song sort of summed up the theme of the show well; that being about  a group of friends trying to make the big-time in Hollywood, some of them achieving success and others not. At least that is what I summed up out of the one or two episodes I've seen, so maybe I am totally off, but the point is I don't give a flying-shart anyways. But seriously someone should make a fan-vid of Entourage using Jimmy Recard, because I probably won't do it ;-( ...Oh yes, getting back to Drapht, he hails at us out of Perth, Australia (a west-coast'a), and he has released three studio albums, so be sure to check them out if you like his work. What it is!
