The Weekly Music Post: 'Joseph' by Greyjoy (2012)
This week's song post goes to Australian indie-pop group Greyjoy and their track Joseph. Greyjoy are a relatively new Perth-based indie-pop group consisting of members
Karlin Courtney (guitar and vocals), Matt Crockett (keyboards), Jeremy Mulligan (bass guitar), Jake Webb (guitar), and Sam Maher (drums). Joseph is one of the group's first singles and it may or may not appear on their first album/ep which is yet to be announced, though the group is starting to tour this June of 2012. Song of the Day: 'Silverspoon' by Sonpsilo Circus (2011)
Today's feature song is Silverspoon, by Australian indie/psychedelic band Sonpsilo Circus. Sonpsilo Circus is a indie-psych-soul band out of Perth, Australia and consisting of members Peters Gowers, Benjamino McDonald, and Mitch McDonalds who formed the band back in 2009. Silverspoon is a single off of the group's debut self-titled 7-track album Sonpsilo Circus ,which was released on August 13th, 2011. Feature Song Of The Day = 'Everywhere' by Tim and Jean (2011)
Today's Feature Song is Everywhere, by Australian indie-electro-pop duo Tim and Jean. Tim and Jean are Tim Ayre and Jean Capotorto who come out of Perth, Western Australia. They started up a MySpace page and ended up entering Triple J's Unearthed High School competition for unsigned bands, in which they made it to the finals with the song Come Around. They were later then selected to by that radio station to play at the Parklife Festival. Everywhere is actually a cover single-release by Tim and Jean of the original Fleetwood Mac song. It doesn't appear on their April-2011 release debut album titled Like What, but you can find it at their Unearthed page HERE. Feature Song of the Day = 'Miss Adventure' by Sons Of Rico (2010)
Today's feature song goes to Australian indie-rock-pop band Sons Of Rico and their song Miss Adventure. Perth-based Sons Of Rico (associated with Birds Of Tokyo) have been active on the Aussie-rock scene since 2004 and is made up of members Alex MacRae (vocals and guitar), Brett Murray (keyboards), Glenn Sarangapany (guitar and vocals), Rob Stephens (bass guitar), James Trewenack (bass guitar), and Adam Weston (drums). Today's Feature Song is Come Around, by Australian indie-electro-pop duo Tim & Jean. Tim and Jean are Tim Ayre and Jean Capotorto who come out of Perth, Western Australia. They started up a MySpace page and ended up entering Triple J's Unearthed High School competition for unsigned bands, in which they made it to the finals with the song Come Around. They were later then selected to by that radio station to play at the Parklife Festival. They have not yet released an official album or EP, but they have played internationally and in America when they were a supporting act for Moby. Today's Feature Song = 'Solitude Is Bliss' by Tame Impala (2010)
Solitude Is Bliss, by Aussie psychedelic rock band Tame Impala. Tame Impala is made up of Kevin Parker (lead guitar and vocals), Dominic Simper (bass guitar) and Jay Watson (drums and backing vocals), and they come out of Perth, WA. Their name refers to the impala, a medium sized antelope. They've won a few awards, and are reminiscent of a few bands like the Doors, the Grateful Dead, the Association, etc. I like their style anyway, so be sure to check them out for yourself. Solitude Is Bliss is a single, which was released in April of 2010, and incidentally reached #33 on Triple J's Hottest 100 Songs of 2010. Feature Song of the Day = 'No Pleasin'' by BOOM! BAP! POW!
Today's feature song is No Pleasin' by Australian pop-roots-soul group BOOM! BAP! POW! BOOM! BAP! POW! have been active on the Australian music scene since 2009, thye originate out of Perth in Western Australia, and the band consists of members David Salvaire (drums), Paul Hines (guitar), Clint Bracknell (bass guitar), Novac Bull (vocals), and Dylan Hooper (saxophone). They have released a debut studio album (although this single is not on it) in May of 2009 titled You Got It So Bad for BOOM! BAP! POW!, which I have confirmed is currently available on ITunes and Amazon. This song appears to be a single release, and it is still available as a free and legal mp3 download on their Unearthed page along with a couple of other songs HERE. Song for December 2nd, 2010: "Lost My Nerve" by Jebediah
The song for today is....Lost My Nerve, by Australian alternative rock group Jebediah. Jebediah formed back in 1994, in Perth, Australia and currently consists of members Kevin Mitchell (vocals and guitars), Chris Daymond (guitars), Vanessa Thornton (bass guitar), and Brett Mitchell (drums). Between the years of 1997-2004 the group produced 4 studio albums, at which point they went on hiatus for a few years, but Lost My Nerve comes off of their newest album titled Kosciuszko, which is set to be released in April of 2011.

Today's song is....Mr Keeperman by Australian indie-rock-pop band Buchanan (pronounced bew-cannon). Buchanan originates out of Melbourne, Victoria in Australia and consists of members Josh Simons (vocals), Jon Bara (guitar), and Sanjay Schuback (drums). Buchanan has just recently released a new EP titled The Safety Beach in May 2010. Song of the Day for October 14th, 2010: "You and I" by Young Revelry
And the song is...You and I, by Australian indie-rock band Young Revelry. Young Revelry are a 4-piece band from Perth, in Western Australia consisting of members Sebastian Astone (Vocals/Guitar), Peter Leveson-Gower (Guitar/Vocals), Tom King (Bass Guitar), and Alex Board (Drums). You and I comes off of their debut 7-track and recently released EP of the same name. This song has an undertone to it that I find delightful, and which also reminds me of times past, as though its very notes ring through to another era. Enjoy!You & I

Song of the Day for Septmeber 4th, 2010: "Goliath" by The Brown Horn Orchestra
And the song is Goliath, by Australian skatronic/brass/beats band The Brown Horn Orchestra. The Perth-based Brown Horn Orchestra consists of members Nicholas Owen, Karri Harper Meredith, Jake Chaloner, Sky Eaton, Lyndon Blue, Ben Lanzon, Angelique Ross, Emcee Rezide, and Lauren Todhunter. They are the 2010 WAMi Award winning band with a wide variety and eclectic mix of sounds and musical styles that I would compare to another Aussie band called The Cat Empire. They also won the Campus Band Competition in 2009, and they have a highly anticipated LP set to come out in early 2011. For more info on the band check out their myspace page here.
